Elijah knew a secret of ministry that many of us have never really considered. He knew the power of asking God to show up. What if we did the same?He saw a people “limping about with two opinions”. There was his opinion and then there was the opinion of the 450 prophets of Baal, just as today in which there is the opinion of the gospel against 450 channels of cable.

When one is outnumbered 450 to 1 asking God to show up can be very effective. 450 Prophets of Baal had all day for their God to show up and yet they still came up limping. When God showed up, not only the offering was burned, but also the wood, the stones, the dust, and even the water Elijah had added just to make it fair.

God showed up on Calvary and he is more than happy to make follow on appearances upon request. All we need do is pray as Elijah did: “Answer me, O LORD, answer me, so that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”
